The Chorus of Kent County has a deep and rich history.
In February 1981, an adult education program was formed at West Warwick High School by Domenic DiOrio and Henry Doiron. In February 1982, a Board of Directors was created and formal paperwork was submitted to form a non-profit corporation known as The Pawtuxet Valley Community Chorus (PVCC).
Musical Directors for The Pawtuxet Valley Community Chorus have been Karen Fields, Brad DeGraide, Jean Coy-Grady, Brian Hopkins and Nicholas Laroche.
A New Era
In late 2015, the Executive Board of Directors as well as the Musical Director saw a new and exciting future for the group. After a planning session, it was decided that the PVCC would rebrand the organization, and in January 2016, The Chorus of Kent County was formed.
Special Performances
We have had the pleasure of performing at some very special places through the years, including the Rhode Island State House, the Rhode Island Convention Center, New York City Festival of States, CBS This Morning, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the Arctic Playhouse presentation of A Christmas Carol: The Musical.
A Look to the Future
Our mission is to continue to enhance the musical, educational, and cultural life of our community, while continuing to support the arts through our concerts.
We look forward to many years of providing entertainment and support to the residents of our community.
